My Review :

Reading a thriller is always an exhilarating experience because it keeps one fixated on the book until the very end. This obviously depends on how good the book is. One cannot blindly assume that every thriller is going to be a smashing read. On the contrary, some thrillers just fall flat and fail to impress the reader. This wasn’t the case with Trust Me Not. This book just got better with every page I turned.

Though I knew this was a socio political thriller when I started reading it, the fact that it had a relatively normal beginning caught me off guard somewhat. However, every thriller doesn’t need to have a suspenseful beginning so that’s not really an issue for me considering the book starts getting interesting pretty early on.

This story has myriad of angles and the storyline is very wide even though there is a point of convergence which of course I won’t divulge because there’s no fun in giving out spoilers.
The story takes place in a high profile set up amidst the practicalities and intricacies of the political and corporate world. The higher the stakes, the more muddled up it gets and the darker it becomes. These simple truths have been captured adeptly and that adds to the appeal of this book. Adding onto the constant drama and thrill, we also get to read the love story of Reeva and Kunal that is frustrating, endearing and toe curling in turns.

I enjoyed reading about all the characters. From the most influencial people to the ones struggling to make a difference, the range is pretty wide.

Reeva and kunal are the protagonists of the story and they both are attractive and intelligent. Kunal and Reeva’s relationship is a complicated one and out of the two I liked Reeva. Kunal was a little too mysterious for my liking and even though is supposed to be very handsome , his secretive behavior didn’t sit too well with me. Reeva on the other hand, was a good character to read about. Her level headedness made me like her.

The writing is articulate and easy to follow with one thing happening after another making this book entertaining as well.

Business tycoons, famous journos, corporate stars, social activists embroiled in scams, acting on sinister ulterior motives and lusting for power makes this book a sure shot riveting and racy read.

My Rating – 4/5 stars
